Making Healthy Lunches a Delectable Treat with Lean Cuisine #FrozenFavorites #CBias

I have shared with you over the past year how eating healthy is a huge goal of mine.  But it can often be difficult and time consuming.  And with the school year now back in full swing, I have less time than ever to make great meals that will help me stay on track to my weight maintenance goals.  So, earlier this week I sat down to decide what I was going to do.  Was I going to go back to cold bars for lunch (yuck!) or just start making extra of dinner from the night before?  I didn’t really want to do either of those things.  I wanted great healthy lunches that were warm, quick and simple – yet still hit the spot and left me feeling completely satisfied!  So I started thinking about my favorite kinds of dishes – the ones that I would make every day if I only had the time.  And I kept going back to the same kinds of dishes – stirfry’s and veggies and rice and chicken.  I started thinking about how to incorporate these into lunch time.  And to gain some inspiration I decided to head off to Sam’s Club.  I knew they had several options for quick lunches and with an idea in mind of what I was looking for, I wanted to see what I could find to make lunch time exactly what I needed it to be; a small escape from the busy day filled with a  delectable treat!

Once I arrived, I headed straight for the frozen foods section.  I mean, let’s face it, with my busy schedule I need convenient and it doesn’t get much easier than a meal you can quickly and easily cook in the microwave.  I wanted to check out the entire selection that Sam’s offered as far as frozen meals to find the best option for me; one that would help me maintain my weight but still be deliciously tasty!

There were tons of options to choose from in many different brand names.  But the one that kept standing out to me was the Lean Cuisine.  I have eaten Lean Cuisine before so I was familiar with the name but had not tried their Asian varieties.  What grabbed my attention was that they looked like the exact items that I would make at home if I had the time.  Each meal had veggies, carbs, protein and looked to be packed full of taste!

After looking at the nutritional information on the backs of the boxes, I was even more confident in my decision to purchase Lean Cuisine for my lunches!  With between 220 and 340 calories per meal, these entrees were the perfect fit for this busy mom’s goals!  I loved that each mean contained vegetables as well!  I try to eat at least five veggies a day and that is such a struggle sometimes so the fact that these lunches helped me meet that goal was huge!  And the price was amazing!  At less than $12 for a six-pack of Lean Cuisine meals, I loved knowing that I was saving tons of money over buying them at the grocery store or going out to eat!  With my decision to add these to my shopping cart happily made, I went in search of the other items on my grocery list.

I added fresh meats, fruit, veggies, a little DiGiorno pizza for a treat for the boys and some baby supplies to the cart before heading for the checkout.  I love that I can find all of these items at Sam’s Club and save money on them at the same time!  Because after all, eating healthy can become very expensive but Sam’s helps me manage the costs!  Finally, I was ready to check out and headed to the cash register with a buggy overflowing with our groceries for the next month.

When we arrived back home, it just happened to be lunch time and I was famished from my shopping trip!  I couldn’t wait to try out my new lunches.  Since I wanted to make sure I had a well balanced meal, I added some of the fruit I had just purchased as a side to my Lean Cuisine meal.

I decided to garnish my Lean Cuisine Chicken Teriyaki Stir Fry with apple, plum and grapes!  It was a fabulous combination!  The Stir Fry had a little bit of a spicy kick to it and the fruit cooled it off perfectly!  From the moment I arranged everything on my plate, I was excited about eating a meal that would be delicious, filling and above all, healthy!

I have tried each of the three varities of Lean Cuisine in this pack and have loved every one!  They are helping to take the stress out of lunch time and creating a way for me to have a healthy escape from the chaos of the day – even if it is only momentarily!  Each meal has a different flavor that makes it unique and I’ve enjoyed mixing and matching sides including veggies, fruits, cottage cheese and more!  I’ve found that I have endless lunch possibilities just by using the Lean Cuisine as the starting point for my lunch time creations!

Teresha, I think it does – there is a little more sauce than I usually use but the veggies are really crisp and the chicken is good. I really do enjoy it.

I’m a huge fan of their teriyaki chicken bowl- it’s just the right motivation to get me to consume veggies! Healthy, and easy, as well as filling!

I’ve had some of those before and they’re surprisingly tasty! I like to keep a selection of them on hand at work during the winter in case it’s too cold or snowy to leave the office. And they have a good variety too, so I’m not eating the same thing day after day.

I always love reading your blogs… all the pictures you take makes me feel like I’m shopping with you!
