I can’t believe Christmas break is getting ready to start! Both of my kids will be off school for over two weeks so I’m brushing up my crafting ideas to ensure that I have plenty of fun activities to keep them busy. During the next week leading up to Christmas, we’ll be finishing up some fun holiday crafts and making our home feel festive. Whether your have a preschooler home with you or are simply preparing for days of fun while your kids are off school, we’ve been working on a fun craft that you’ll want to try!
My kids love Frosty. They would love to have him for a friend. And since the snow hasn’t really started here yet this winter, they don’t get to make their own Frosty very often. So we decided we’d do something about that and find a fun way to make Frosty indoors!
What You Will Need:
Flower Pot (Choose the size that is best for your child’s hands)
Assortment of Paints (White, Green, Black and Orange)
Hot Glue and Hot Glue Gun
How to Make It:
Start by painting your flower pot completely white. I found that 2-3 coats was enough to cover the color of the flower pot without making it look gloppy.
Once your white paint is dry, paint the lip of your flower pot green (or whatever festive color you would like). Again, use a few coats to give it a solid look.
Allow your flower pot to dry completely and then you’re ready to start adding details. Use a pipe cleaner and your two large poms to create ear muffs for your snowman. Simply bend your pipe cleaner in a half circle, glue an end to each side of the top of the pot and the glue your poms on top of it.
Next, use your paint to create eyes a nose and a mouth. You can get creative here and give your snowman the expression you want him (or her) to have.
Allow the paint for your face to dry and then go back in and add any details you want- like eyeballs! Finally use your smaller poms to glue around the colored section of your snowman to make him look festive and you’re done!
This fun craft is perfect to set on your counter, by your tree or in your child’s room to remind them of winter fun all season long!
