We all know how it goes…you work hard during the week to make smart food choices and then the weekend comes and you just really want something that tastes amazing and feels like an indulgence. Something that you can sit on on porch with and savor every last bite. This is what I’ve been struggling with during my weight loss (and now weight maintenance) journey. For months now, I’ve had setbacks on the weekend because my Saturday breakfast choices weren’t great. But I’m putting a stop to that and creating a weekend indulgence that totally fits in with my healthy lifestyle and it’s this can’t miss apple, plum and chai breakfast bowl!
What You Will Need:
(for the Breakfast Bowl)
1 Cup Chia, Buckwheat & Hemp Cereal
1 Tablespoon of Organic Raw Honey
1 Tablespoon of Organic Trail Mix
1/2 of a Honeycrisp Apple (sliced)
1/2 of a Ripe Plum (sliced)
1/2 of a Ripe Kiwi (sliced)
(for the Avocado, Chai Seed & Yogurt Sauce)
1/2 Cup of Blueberry, Pomegranate & Acai Cultured Milk
1/2 Tablespoon of Organic Maca Powder
1 Tablespoon of Chai Seeds
1 Ripe Avocado
1 and 1/2 Tablespoon of Raw Organic Honey
How to Make It:
This apple, plum and chai breakfast bowl take a little longer than a bowl of cereal to prepare but let me just say, the end result is totally worth it! Think a weekend breakfast that will feel like an indulgence without blowing all the progress you’ve made at the gym during the week! Total score, right? To start, prepare your Chai, Buckwheat and Hemp cereal according tot he instructions on the package (yes, it’s a hot cereal that has to be cooked).
Once you’ve finished cooking the cereal for your breakfast bowl, add a tablespoon of raw organic honey and stir it all together.
Next, add your apple, kiwi and plum slices to a bowl and spoon in your prepared cereal.
Now, I know it looks ready at this point but really, let’s take this breakfast bowl to the next level with some avocado, chai seed and yogurt sauce to really make the flavors pop! To do this, simply add the blueberry, pomegranate and acai cultured milk, maca powder, chai seeds and a ripe avocado to a bowl or food processor.
Then simply mix well using a fork (or your food processor) and add in your raw organic honey until you get a creamy texture.
Once the sauce is ready, spoon it over the top of your apple, plum and chai seed breakfast bowl, top it with your trail mix and you’ve got a perfect breakfast that tastes amazing and you can feel great about eating!
