Both of my boys will gladly guzzle down a delicious glass of chocolate milk any time of the day and for me, it’s a calcium rich treat that I really enjoy after walking or riding my bike. This summer, as I’ve been paying more attention to our nutrition, I’ve been finding more ways to add delicious chocolate milk to our summer activities…..but it hasn’t just been any chocolate milk I’ve been adding; it’s been TruMoo Chocolate Milk! And I have to say, Leslie’s response really got me to thinking! She said:
I love the idea of leading by example — walk the talk. Getting kids in the kitchen teaches them skills and is physical activity. You can enjoy together a glass of TruMoo Chocolate Milk and a banana with peanut butter or make a smoothie with TruMoo, vanilla Greek yogurt and frozen raspberries. Armed with my knowledge that chocolate milk provides two recovery solutions, helping to restore fluids lost during exercise and giving you the ideal combination of carbs and protein to promote muscle protein synthesis, I set to work creating delicious Peanut Butter, Banana and Chocolate Milk Freezer Pops!
What You Will Need
2 Cups of TruMoo Chocolate Milk
2 Ripe Bananas
1/4 Cup of Creamy Peanut Butter
1/2 Cup of Plain Greek Yogurt
How to Make It:
What I truly love about these Peanut Butter, Banana and Chocolate Milk Freezer Pops is that they take the delicious ready-to-serve taste of TruMoo Chocolate Milk and make it into a frozen treat that’s perfect for hot summer days and post workout recovery! Since TruMoo is made from low-fat white milk with no artificial growth hormones or high fructose corn syrup and is brought to you by your trusted local dairy, for me it was the perfect starting point for a summer time treat that I could share with the kids after my workouts or our hikes together. To start, I cut one of my bananas into slices and added it to my blender along with my peanut butter and greek yogurt.
After pouring in my TruMoo Chocolate Milk that has protein, vitamins and minerals in each great tasting sip, I knew I had added the perfect way to help both the kids and myself meet our nutritional goals in each and every freezer pop!
After blending my mixture until it was smooth and creamy, I was ready to assemble my Peanut Butter, Banana and Chocolate Freezer Pops.
Since I wanted to add more banana to every bite both for a little surprise in my freezer pops and for the muscle cramp-fighting powers it has post workout, I sliced up my second banana and added several thin slices to each off my freezer pop molds.
Next, I filled each of my freezer pop molds with my creamy mixture that boasted the taste of TruMoo Chocolate Milk.
After gently tapping the molds to reduce air bubbles, I added the tops and placed them in the freezer for six hours.
Once my Peanut Butter, Banana and Chocolate Freezer Pops were completely frozen, I pulled them out of the freezer, dipped them in hot water to loosen the molds and pulled them out to deliver the perfect cool summer snack that my kids love and that I can’t get enough of.
I love that after workouts or just on hot summer afternoons, I have a delicious frozen treat that I can feel good about sharing with my kids!
