With the holiday season quick approaching, my mind is turning to…entertaining of course! Ever since moving into our new home almost a year and a half ago (where has time gone?), I’ve been on a mission to fill my home with family and friends. And while I know I’ll be having plenty of family gatherings in the coming months, I have to say that I’m more than a little excited to fill my home with female friends for a girls night in that is unforgettable. As I’ve been planning for fun girls-only events over the holiday season, I’ve needed to come up with just the right finger food that fits in perfectly with laughter, conversation and fun. And I have to say, I think I’ve achieved perfection with my easy-to-make Mediterranean Wasa Bites!
It’s only fair to admit that I’ve been noshing on Wasa Multi Grain crispbread for years. As a low carb crunchy snack that has no preservatives, is all natural and is high in fiber, it’s been a go to in my pantry for dipping, topping and simply enjoying. So, needless to say, each time I head to Harris Teeter, I make sure to stock up!
With this favorite snack that is made of four perfectly blended, wholesome grains while boasting a satisfying crunch on hand, it’s never hard to come up with amazing finger foods. But with the sophisticated tastes of my friends in mind, I decided to take things to the next level with my Mediterranean Wasa Bites creation! Here’s how I made them!
What You Will Need:
1 Can of Low Sodium Chicken Peas
1/4 Cup of Tahini
1 Teaspoon of Minced Garlic
2 Tablepoons of Olive Oil
1/2 Teaspoon of Cumin
Salt to Taste
1 Cup of Calmata Olives
1/2 Cup of Sun Dried Tomatoes
1/4 Cup of Feta Cheese
How to Make It:
These Mediterranean Wasa Bits are a simple snack to whip up when friends are coming over and the best part is, with bold flavors and a homemade touch, they feel completely sophisticated! To start, I needed to make some easy hummus and thankfully, I had a recipe on hand that’s quick and delicious. I began by adding my chick peas to my food processor and squeezing in my lemon.
Next, I added in my tahini, garlic, olive oil, cumin and salt.
After ensuring all of my ingredients were added, I simply turned on my food processor and allowed it to mix all of my ingredients until I had a smooth, creamy texture to my homemade hummus.
With my hummus made, I was ready to assemble my Mediterranean Wasa Bites. Since I knew they needed the perfect base that is created from wholesome grains and topped with oat flakes and rye bran for a totally sophisticated look, I pulled out my Wasa Multi Grain crispbread and broke each of my pieces in half to make them the perfect size for finger foods.
After spacing them out evenly on a serving platter, I grabbed an icing bag (yup, an icing bag) and added my homemade hummus to it. With a large round tip, I was able to easily (and neatly) add just the right amount of hummus to each of my Wasa cripsbreads.
Once I had my Wasa crispbread topped with my hummus, I drained my Calmata olives and placed one onto the top of my hummus.
Next, I added a piece of sundried tomato to perfectly compliment the creaminess of the hummus and the saltiness of the olives.
Finally, to pull my Mediterranean Wasa Bites together, I sprinkled Feta cheese over the top, finishing my creation in a way that was both visually appealing and delicious!
After adding all of my ingredients, my prepared Mediterranean Wasa Bites and some drinks to the table, I was more than ready to entertain my friends in a fabulously delicious way!
We all agreed that the crunch of the Wasa crispbread paired perfectly with the variety of toppings to create a finger food snack that’s perfect for sharing over conversation. As we enjoyed our girls only night treat and caught up on all that is going on around us, we quickly found that having a simple snack was the perfect compliment to our amazing time together.
The full-bodied flavor of the Wasa crispbread provided the perfect crunch to ensure that our snack was as exciting as our time spent catching up.
And let’s be honest, this finger food that’s perfect for sharing with friends just wouldn’t have been the same if it hadn’t been made with the unforgettable taste of crunch that only Wasa can deliver!
