With Labor Day quickly approaching, we’re trying to fit in as much grilling as possible. While I know that the weather won’t change overnight, where we live it’s already starting to cool down and I’m realizing that some of our last grilling weekends are upon us. With this in mind, I’ve made it my mission to come up with completely fantastic grilled dishes that we’ll remember long into the cold winter months and since Labor Day is kind of our goodbye to summer for the year, it was especially important for me to create an unforgettable grilled meal that my family won’t soon forget. After settling on burgers (because what’s more Labor Day perfect that grilled burgers?) I decided to kick things up a notch and create completely drool-worthy Grilled Teriyaki Burgers with Ginger-Soy Slaw!
So, how did the idea for these burgers come to be? Well, lately I’ve been adding tons of Asian flare to my meals. By finding ways to infuse flavor into classic dishes, I’ve really been kicking up the flavor profile of recipes we already eat and turning them into new and exciting culinary experiences. Knowing that I wanted to create burgers that were slightly different and filled with flavor, I turned to my trusted Kikkoman® Less Sodium Soy Sauce and Kikkoman® Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce to help me transform regular burgers into a true masterpiece!
What You Will Need
(makes 3-4 Burgers)
1 and 1/4 Pounds of Lean Ground Beef
1/2 Cup of Diced Green Onions
4 Tablespoons of Kikkoman® Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce (plus more for basting)
2 Cups of Slaw Mix
1/3 Cup of Diced Pickled Ginger
2 Tablespoons of Mayonnaise
2 Tablespoons of Kikkoman® Less Sodium Soy Sauce
Hamburger Buns (fresh if possible)
How to Make It
These delicious Grilled Teriyaki Burgers with Ginger-Soy Slaw are perfect for any night of the week but I knew they would really make a flavorful splash for Labor Day weekend. To start them, I added my hamburger meat and green onions to a large bowl.
Next, I added my Kikkoman® Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce. While I generally use Kikkoman® Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce as a sauce or marinade, I’ve been discovering recently that it’s the perfect way to add flavor to grilled dishes and more! With it’s easy flavor and flair, it allows me to up the taste of my favorite dishes in a way that takes little to no extra time!
After adding my Kikkoman® Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce to my hamburger meat, I quickly mixed it all together, ensuring that there was tons of flavor mixed thoughout.
Once I had mixed all the flavors into my meat, I divided it into sections and quickly made patties that were perfect for throwing on the grill.
After getting the hubs to fire up the grill, he easily placed my prepared Grilled Teriyaki Burger patties onto it and allowed them to cook on medium-high heat for about six minutes on each side, ensuring that the center was cooked to perfection.
Once the burgers were almost perfectly cooked, he brushed on another coat of Kikkoman® Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce to ensure that the Asian flavor of these delicious burgers really shone through!
With my Grilled Teriyaki Burgers almost ready, I quickly added my slaw mix, ginger, mayonnaise and Kikkoman® Less Sodium Soy Sauce to a bowl and mixed it together well. With the same great flavor as Regular Kikkoman® Soy Sauce, the Less Sodium variety works perfectly in my slaw to keep the sodium level down.
As soon as my slaw was mixed to perfection, I was ready to assemble my Grilled Teriyaki Burgers with Ginger-Soy Slaw. I quickly grabbed my hamburger buns and sliced them in half and placed my perfectly grilled Teriyaki Burgers on top.
After adding a generous amount of my Ginger-Soy Slaw and a few more green onions, I added the top of the bun, pushed down gently to secure it and my Grilled Teriyaki Burgers with Ginger-Soy Slaw were ready to be enjoyed!
As I called my family out to eat, the delicious scent of grilled burgers paired with the Asian flare of Kikkoman® sauces filled the air and had everyone’s mouth watering.
